I am often asked how one should begin a transformation or “metamorphosis” to a better life. The answer is simple: Inside out. So first of all, our body’s balance is determined by our THOUGHTS. Our existence can be poisoned by our thoughts, spiritually and physically. If we allow a negative thought to control us the outcome will be a negative feeling that sickens us. In the best case scenario, the illness will be an apparently simple headache. If, however, the negative feeling becomes chronic it will be converted by our inner being into something much worse. Therefore our emotional wellbeing is the most important element of all; that is why we should always begin our metamorphosis there. Let’s give it a good thought: Who chooses our thoughts? We or someone else? Whenever we engage in a negative thought, we need to train our self to exit quickly from the negative and to focus on something else positive. Overtime, this training will allow us to avoid the negativity altogether.
Our thought is the first nutritient of our being!!! Think about: This negative thought of ours is only damaging to us and not to the person who may have caused it, John for example. First we reset our thoughts on a postitive track and then we focus on the way in which we care of our body. The question is, in which kind of ENVIRONMENT do we allow our self to exist and why? Is this environment friendly or toxic? Our home, our relationships, our surroundings? Forget about excuses like “I have no choice, I can’t do anything different, etc.” Every time we repeat to ourselves “I cannot,” what we mean at a deeper level is that “I don’t want” something enough. At the end of the day, who is the person who does what I cannot do? What characteristics does the person who can control his life have that I lack? Another important element of our total wellbeing and of the care of our body is NUTRITION. And this is because what we eat will also influence how we feel. If what we eat is lifeless, then the energy that it transmits to us is sick. If our nutrition is a multi-tortured animal that had to go through great pain before reaching our plate, then we will carry this martyrdom spiritually and physically in our own tummy… The best that we can do is harvest a juicy tomato from our garden (or from our little pot); fresh is better, processed is worse. The same applies to EXERCISE. If we sit on the couch snacking on bacon, we will start to look like the animal we are eating. Let’s run, play, and enjoy ourselves; let’s take advantage of the beautiful outdoors to exercise our body. No need to always lock ourselves in a gym. Let’s make our exercise fun and entertaining!!. Entertainment does not consist only of bars and alcohol… Feeling our cheecks redden and brighten up just like when we were kids running around is also fun. What did we allow to change in us as the years went by? Just as we allowed things to deteriorate, in the same way we can we improve them again now. A quick stride with our buddy, jump rope on the porch, a jog on our beautiful beaches, a dance to our favorite song, because that’s how we want it! If you want to get some exercise, you have to pour some sweat baby; it’s that simple! Holistic and natural therapies also encourage self-healing. They give the body the opportunity to use its own unique mechanisms to achieve spiritual, emotional, and physical balance: Herbal therapies, detoxification, massage, acupuncture, homeopathy, yoga, meditation, etc.
One or more of these combined; surely we will find something to fit our needs. Finally, there is our external APPEARANCE. No matter how old we are, we need to watch our appearance, especially as we get older. Certainly much has to do with my previous points: When we allow our self to filter our thoughts and then to encourage positive emotions, we will also see this reflected on our face in a rejuvenating way. Happy people look younger. When we eat properly, our body reaches its ideal weight. When we exercise, our muscles remain strong; our skin appears more vibrant and healthy. Equally important, however, is for us to have our hair well groomed, to wear clothes with colors that give us energy and confidence, to care for our teeth or for anything else that can improve our appearance.
So, to summarize in terms of priority: First, we filter the THOUGHTS that create EMOTIONS. With our thoughts we feed emotionally our self. Second, ENVIRONMENT; in what kind of an environment do we allow our self to exist? Third, NUTRITION and EXERCISE; how do we nurish our body and how do we fuel it? Fourth, APPEARANCE; a new color or haircut will rejuvenate us:):) Our existence is a total and this combination needs attention on multiple interconnected and interdependent levels. Let’s care for our unique, multi-dimensional, but also fascinating existence!
