In a vintage mood, Daphne Valente designed her summer 2017 collection, using as a source of inspiration the Ancient Greek plant, the Acanthus.
The leaves of the Acanthus have been sculpted in the Corinthian column and have been extensively used in art and interior design from the Renaissance until the Art Nouveau.
Daphne sculpts her pleated chiffon leaves to form fragile vines on her dresses, she forms elaborate jewelry from bronze, in black platinum or antique patina finish and she prints the Acanthus on stunning bags.
The unique, handmade, sculptural, timeless dresses in white can be worn as graduation gowns, as bridesmaid’s gowns and possibly as fun wedding gowns in young, casual, beach weddings.
A recent reward of the Acanthus collection, is the fact that in an article about Athens during the exhibition of modern art Documenta, the German magazine Gala featured a photo of the collection as an original expression of contemporary Greek design
The Acanthus collection is enhanced by the little, black, draped jersey dresses, by the classic, pleated scarves in 30 exquisite colors and by the new addition to the collection, the pleated bags.
Daphne’s clothes, accessories and jewelry are available at her showroom in Syntagma, by appointment only and at selected boutiques and art shops in Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon.
