In the sea of Oasis fans serenading Wembley arena with a rousing rendition of Live Forever, you may have spotted royalty – and we don’t mean the Gallagher scions. Party circuit regular and resident cool-girl, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece headed to north London to be in attendance at the summer’s ultimate culture event: Oasis’ reunion tour.
The model and socialite goddaughter of King Charles is a member of the non-reigning Greek royal family and boarded in Switzerland for some of her education but England was her home for 18 years and as such, she doesn’t shy from British activities. Be that letting her hair down at Chiltern Firehouse, living like Bridget Jones, or clambering on her brother’s shoulders and belting out Wonderwall – pint in hand.
Olympia was joined by her brother’s Prince Achileas-Andreas and Prince Odysseas-Kimon of Greece and Denmark, the second youngest child of Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece. Pavlos’ father, Constantine II, who passed away in 2023, was the last King of Greece. He ascended the throne in 1964 and reigned until 1973. A republic referendum in 1974 brought the ‘Crowned Democracy of Greece to an end.’
Equally comfortable with European aristocracy as Oasis’ fans, the Princess’ outing comes a week after Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal’s first-born celebrated her 29th birthday. To mark the occasion her mother shared an adorable throwback photo on Instagram, showing Olympia dressed up as a princess, of the fairytale variety, in a pink dress and a fake tiara. ‘Celebrating you today @olympiagreece,’ she captioned the post.
Crown Prince Pavlos also marked his daughter’s special day with a video of the two of them, drinks in hand. ‘Happy Birthday to my dear Olympia. Always smiling,’ he wrote in Greek.
Princess Maria-Olympia father was one of 10 members of the Greek royal family who had their Greek citizenship reinstated late last year. On Dec. 23, 2024, the royal family’s private office announced, ‘It is with deep emotion that, after thirty years, we hold the Greek citizenship again. The law of 1994 deprived us of our citizenship, rendering us stateless with all that this entails in terms of individual rights and great emotional distress.’
The undisputed It girl of London, ‘everyone wants her at their parties. She’s the life and soul,’ a friend once told Tatler. As such, we’re sure Liam and Noel were thrilled to make Olympia’s hit list. Where she goes, society follows.
